Filamer Christian University (FCU) has once again strengthened its standing as a leading higher education institution in Western Visayas after receiving two regional recognitions from the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VI (CHED VI), where it emerged as one of only two universities from Capiz honored during the awarding ceremony, May 21, 2026 at the West Visiayas State University Cultural Center.

The university was conferred the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Innovative Awards in recognition of its proactive initiatives in promoting drug prevention, awareness, and advocacy within the academic community and beyond highlighting FCU’s continuing commitment, through the National Service Training Program (NSTP), to fostering a safe, healthy, and values-driven learning environment through innovative programs and sustained community engagement.
FCU also earned distinction as one of the Top Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) on Internationalization Programs and Initiatives in Western Visayas recognizing the university’s consistent efforts in advancing internationalization through academic partnerships, global collaborations, mobility opportunities, and programs that enhance the global competence of students and faculty.
Representing the university during the awarding ceremony were University President Dr. George Cortel, Vice President for Research, Extension, Internationalization, Innovation and Development Dr. Erlyn Beup, International Programs Directress Dr. Mary Jane Tormon, and NSTP Coordinator Myrla Manua.
The recognition places FCU among a select group of institutions in Capiz acknowledged by CHED VI, underscoring the university’s growing impact in both regional development and academic excellence.
University officials expressed that the awards reflect the collective efforts of the entire FCU community, including administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners, all contributing to the university’s sustained pursuit of quality education and meaningful community service
“We are grateful for this recognition which reflects our effort to innovate and implement programs that is necessary and relevant for our students and our community,” Dr. Cortel said.
