Three students from the College of Computer Studies (CCS) recently represented Filamer Christian University at the 2026 World Youth Skills Camp, organized by partner university, Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U), Iloilo City, July 6-13.
The participants—Hezelie Diwa, Iris Tiffany Yu, and Earl Vincent Revicencio—are all third-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students. Prior to the main event, the trio completed online language and culture classes from June 25 to 30. They then attended intensive, hands-on skills training from July 7 to 10, which concluded with a two-day cultural and nature exposure.
The immersion provided the students with both technical and personal growth. “I really learned a lot in robotics,” shared Iris Tiffany Yu. “It enhanced my skills in coding, wiring, and understanding how different motors work.”
Earl Vincent Revicencio added, “Through this camp, I learned to communicate with students from other countries, which greatly boosted my confidence”.
Reflecting on the collaborative spirit of the event, Hezelie Diwa noted, “I learned that nothing can be done without teamwork, understanding, and helping each other. With teamwork, we can achieve all our plans and goals.”
Facilitated by the Internationalization and Global Engagement Office (IGEO), FCU’s participation underscores its active collaboration with ISAT U and advances the university’s internationalization initiatives. Furthermore, this engagement champions the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
