Relief aid extended to flood-hit FCU faculty, staff

A relief distribution facilitated by the Outreach and Extensions Office through the efforts of International Ministries- ABC USA and Capiznon Kasapulanan Baptist Churches was conducted for the faculty and staff affected by flooding caused by Typhoons Ramil and Tino, extending immediate assistance and solidarity to the Filamerian community held at the FCU Gym on December 18.

A total of 135 faculty and staff members received relief assistance package containing 10 kg of rice and hygiene kit.

In his opening remarks, Dr. George Cortel underscored the initiative as a thoughtful and timely effort of International Ministries ABC-USA.

“We are thankful for this initiative as this is a big help to us. This shows how we think of and care for our employees,” Cortel said, emphasizing the importance of institutional and faith-based support during times of crisis.

Rev. Job Santiago, executive minister of the Capiznon Kasapulanan Baptist Churches, acknowledged the collective efforts of partner organizations and volunteers, while reiterating the church’s mission to serve and accompany communities affected by calamities.

Delivering the acceptance message, Prof. Mylene Chu expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that the assistance extended “more than basic necessities.”

She affirmed that the gesture reminded recipients that they were “not alone in the adversity” they faced and encouraged everyone to continue inspiring, helping, serving, and uplifting others in whatever way possible.

Meanwhile, Outreach and Extension Office Director Dr. Guillermo highlighted the purpose of the initiative

“The relief operation was a beautiful “labor of love” that showed to the FCU faculty and staff that they are seen, valued, and cared,” Dr. Guillermo said.

“To International Ministries- ABC USA and Capiznon Kasapulanan Baptist Churches their generosity reminds us that we are not alone in our mission It affirms the strong partnership and shared purpose that unite us in serving God and our community,” Dr. Guillermo added.
