Aiming to enhance employment prospects and bridge the gap between local talent and top-tier employers, the Job Konek Career Talk was launched on January 31, focusing on the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Information Technology (IT) sectors.
The event was led by Paolo Gerardo Roxas, the 1st District focal person for social services, who underscored its role in fostering the region’s economic growth.
“Job Konek brings hope for students and their families. This gathering offers a valuable opportunity for those seeking employment and new career prospects. Through this initiative, your dreams can become a reality,” Roxas shared during his welcome address.
The career talk gathered influential industry leaders who shared valuable insights on employment trends and technological advancements.
Jack Madrid, President and CEO of the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), emphasized the initiative’s importance in tapping into local talent and integrating them into the expanding BPO sector.
“By bridging the gap between education and employment, Job Konek is helping by paving the way for a digitally empowered future in Roxas City,” said Mitch Locsin, Senior Vice President and Head of PLDT and Smart Enterprise Business Groups.
Miguel del Rosario, a prominent figure in the IT sector, stressed the value of collaboration in driving innovation and creating opportunities for young professionals in technology.
Alvin Juban, President of the Game Developers Association of the Philippines, pointed out the potential of the gaming industry and highlighted Job Konel as an avenue to harness Roxas City’s creative talent.
In closing, JL Botor, a distinguished professional in the BPO sector, emphasized that initiatives like Job Konek are critical in equipping the workforce with the skills necessary to succeed in the competitive BPO landscape.
The event was hosted at Filamer Christian University, Inc. Roblee Hall and attended by students from various schools across Roxas City.
