CBA holds first investiture ceremony for BSE students

The College of Business and Accountancy held its first Becoming a Tycoon Investiture Ceremony (BTIC), a coating and pinning event Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (BSE) students, February 17.

BSE students Sharajel Piniano, Christian Joshua Alvarez, Danie Madali, Mark John Oberas, and Maria Nina Ysabelle Dela Cruz were pinned and coated, a powerful gesture of progression into the next chapter of their academic and professional lives along with their family members playing a key role, acknowledged the steadfast support of loved ones, while the coating represented their entry into the challenging and world of entrepreneurship.

Dr. George O. Cortel, University President, along with Dr. Minnie P. Chan, VP for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Erlyn C. Beup, VP for Research, were among the university’s key leaders who attended the ceremony along with CBA dean, Dr. Katherine Rose Arciga and CBA faculty members.

BTIC also welcomed a series of distinguished guests from the business and government sectors, and development partners such including Ms. Juafe M. Abreles, Provincial Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Ronald So, Secretary of the Philippine Chines Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.; Ms. Eliza Capa of Junior Chamber International – Roxas Makawiwili;  keynote speaker Mr. Lemuel Capa, President of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Roxas Halaran, and Ms. Honey Mae F. Osimco, OIC-Division Chief of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

 “As you move forward, nurture the characteristics that define successful entrepreneurs—innovation, adaptability, and integrity. The journey is not easy, but with these values, you will be well-equipped to thrive,” Ms. Omsico shared emphasizing the importance of resilience, innovation, and integrity in their entrepreneurial endeavors.

“Your network is your net worth,” Ms. Osimco added, reinforcing the idea that strong relationships and collaborations with government agencies and industry bodies are essential to long-term success.

The event was also a significant moment for Filamer Christian University’s BSE program, which was introduced in the Academic Year 2022-2023 with just six freshperson students.

High school students from FCU Basic Education were also invited to attend the event to get a closer look at the entrepreneurial opportunities the course offers.

In her response, Batch PioneEURS’ Dela Cruz expressed gratitude to the university, faculty, families, and mentors who supported them throughout their journey, “This milestone represents more than just receiving a pin or a coat,” she said. “It signifies the responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities that come with being an entrepreneur. As we move forward, we will continue to embrace the entrepreneurial mindset—to be bold, creative, and solution-driven.”

In addition to the momentous event, short videos were shown showcasing the types of businesses they aim to establish in the future, which attendees a glimpse into the creative minds and aspirations of the next generation of entrepreneurs.
