Dr. Rojo elected as VP for CHEDRO VI Council of Deans for Hospitality and Tourism Education

Tourism Program Head of Filamer Christian University, Dr. Lorenzo Rojo, has been elected as Vice President for Private Schools of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VI (CHEDRO VI) Council of Deans for Hospitality and Tourism Education during its 1st Regional Consultative Conference and General Assembly held on October 11 at Grand Xing Hotel, Iloilo City.

With the theme “Strengthening Tourism and Hospitality Education through Collaboration, Innovation, and Leadership,” the event gathered deans, program heads, and academic leaders from various higher education institutions across Region VI. It aimed to promote cooperation and strengthen academic excellence in the fields of tourism and hospitality education.

Representing Filamer Christian University, Inc. alongside Dr. Rojo were Dr. Maria Anna Lissa Ruba, Dean of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management; Mrs. Teresita Eyao, Officer-in-Charge of the Hospitality Management Program; and Mr. Nelbrandt Sorillo, Student Internship Abroad Program Coordinator.

The conference featured a series of insightful sessions on leadership, technology integration in hospitality operations, faculty immersion programs, and international internship opportunities. Updates from CHED on hospitality and tourism management programs were also discussed.

Among the distinguished speakers during the conference were Prof. Ma. Medalla P. Balio, Dr. Raul C. Alvarez Jr., Dr. June Acebedo, Mr. Peter Paul Dayanan, Mr. Raymond K. Gutual, Dr. Aldaibert Alcaida, and Mr. Efren S. Sucaldito.

Dr. Rojo’s election underscores FCU’s growing role in regional academic leadership and its continued commitment to advancing quality education and innovation in hospitality and tourism.
