Administration of Filamer Christian University, academic and unit heads convened at the Roblee Hall for this year’s internal Mid-Year Management Review of the Operational Plans with the goal to revisit the accomplishments and progress of operations of various offices, July 21.Present in the whole-day event were University President George Cortel, Vice Presidents Dr. Minnie Chan (VPAA), Dr. Erlyn Beup (REQA), Mr. Jorgen Gregorio (Administration), and Mrs. Esther Arceño (Finance), deans, principals, and unit heads.“This is an integral step to review our progress as an institution as we intend to be better and more adaptive in the coming years,” Dr. Cortel emphasized in his opening message.Various departments presented their respective progress through their operational plans highlighting the Key Result Areas (KRA), Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and Remarks on Progress (percentage of accomplishments).Unit and academic heads highlighted their respective accomplishments such as professional growth of their faculty and staff, procurement of different office or department equipment, hiring status, building and renovation of facilities, improvement on enrollment numbers, board passers, topnotchers; better linkages, research ventures, etc.Dr. Chan noted that what is lacking in most of the offices are innovations such as the strong implementation of a Learning Management System to be used especially during in-person classes suspension.“It is about time we further innovate, and think of the bigger picture. This is what we need, and we should do to make Filamer shine more,” Dr. Chan said.Based on the presentations, FCU experienced a very successful 2024-2025 school year such as being deregulated by Commission on Higher Education, receiving accreditation level statuses in most of its programs from ACSCU-ACI, recognition from CHEDRO VI, research presentations locally and internationally, active extension and community outreach programs in several adopted communities, international engagement for both faculty and students such as participation in cultural exchange, short-term courses, and on-the-job training.Dr. Cortel acknowledged the effort of every head and commended their presentations and observed progress, however reminded the heads to further improve performance for next academic year stating, “Aways prioritize efficiency in your operations, eventually it will result to effectiveness.”The university is prepping to be more holistic in the coming school year as it aims to elevate its status by applying for re-accreditation of its programs, ISO-certification, and international university rankings. The internal review is spearheaded by the VP-REQA Office in preparation for presentation to Board-of-Trustees on August 2.
