FCU Athletes seize wins in Milo Marathon ’23

Six Filamerian track athletes rise to the top of almost 17,000 other participants, as they nab individual placings in different categories on the Iloilo Leg of the National Milo Marathon 2023 held at the Iloilo City Hall, Iloilo, Sept. 24.

In the test of endurance, Khristine Bee Conjurado from the Elementary Department finished 5th in the 3K Girls, while Abian Rens Belloga from the Junior High School Department finished 8th in the 3K Boys after completing their four-stop route which kicked off at the Sunburst Park and ended at the Freedom Grandstand.

On the other hand, College of Criminal Justice Education students Kim Villaruz and Jovy Rose Girao placed 3rd and 6th, respectively, along with Jazen Vi Faith Martinez of the Junior High School on 10th, in the 5K Girls Category with a five-stop route. Meanwhile, lone 10K Boys runner and finisher Ian Miguel Dumangon, hailing from the College of Computer Studies, ran in the nine-stop route and placed 17th in his category.

The abovementioned students along with 18 other participants from Filamer are members of the FCU Athletics team, and are coached by Josue Campos and Marigen Ignacio. Milo Marathon is an annual event regarded as the first marathon to be considered a major national sports event and is the grandest, most prestigious running event of the country to date.
