FCU-CN clinches top honors at 4th International Nursing Conference

Filamer Christian University College of Nursing (FCU-CN) earned multiple recognitions at the 4th International Nursing Conference on Translational Research, held at the Iloilo Convention Center on February 5-6.

Topping the list of recognitions, Dr. Nelly Guillen, CN Dean won as Best Research Presenter for Poster in the Professional Category for her study, “Emotional Intelligence, Leadership Potential, and Work Productivity of Nurses in Capiz.” This study is co-authored by Atty. MA. Juna Dieta, CN Clinical Coordinator.

FCU CN Alumnus Reymart Bedeo also triumphed, taking Best in Oral Presentation for his mobile app study on nursing procedures, “Abyan: A Mobile Application on Selected Nursing Procedures for Nursing Students.”

In the Student Category, Abegail Arceño and Leyan Mae Benid won Best in Video Presentation for their study on Filipino nurses staying in the country. Meanwhile, Reinalyn Jade Diaz and Irish Dumilig earned second place for their app on managing diabetic patients, while Lorena Alba and Angel Aldamero claimed third place for their video on the lived experiences of people with HIV.

Other awards included third place honors for Vhon Kenneth Bellido and Honey Grace Andong’s study on lateral violence among pandemic-era nurses, and Jade Emmanuel Estifano and Roshane Hamasa’s oral presentation on a flood monitoring system powered by UV rays.

The conference, hosted by Central Philippine University (CPU), saw Dr. Guillen and FCU-CN faculty play key roles as presenters, judges, and moderators together with Prof. Agnes June Custodio serving as competition judge. Accompanying the delegates were Prof. Arlene Upano and Prof. Jeannie Dumagpi, who served as moderators, and Prof. Ermofe Garbosa as poster presenter.

This collective feat of FCU-CN professors and students cements the reputation of the college as a premier nursing school focused on research and innovation.

The event was organized through the collaboration of CPU and Ifugao State University’s College of Health and Sciences and Master of Nursing, along with recognized higher education institutions in the country.
