Filamer Christian University, Inc. (FCU) conducted a Bomb Threat Awareness Symposium for its employees on January 24 at the FCU Gym, in line with the university’s continuing efforts to strengthen campus safety and emergency preparedness.

The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit (PECU) of the Philippine National Police (PNP), which provided participants with essential information on identifying bomb threats, proper response protocols, and safety measures during emergency situations.

Present in the symposium were class advisers from basic education unit to college, principals, security and safety offices, Human Resource and Development Center, General Services, and Office of the Vice President for Administration.

The symposium aimed to equip FCU employees with the knowledge and skills needed to respond calmly and effectively in the event of a bomb threat, ensure the safety of students and personnel, and prevent panic or misinformation during critical situations.

Discussions included recognizing suspicious items, understanding evacuation procedures, and coordinating with law enforcement authorities.

PNP-PECU personnel through PLT. Felipe Flores Jr. emphasized the importance of vigilance, timely reporting, and strict adherence to established security protocols.

He also highlighted the role of educational institutions in promoting a culture of safety and preparedness among their communities.

The symposium forms part of the university’s proactive measures to safeguard the welfare of its stakeholders and ensure readiness in responding to potential security threats.
