Filamer Christian University (FCU) held a series of seminar-workshops aimed at strengthening the institution’s academic and digital standards. The event featured topics such as Table of Specifications and Test Construction, Data Privacy Act of 2012, Voyeurism Law, and Cybersecurity on January 14 at Roblee Hall.
In his welcome remarks, Prof. Jorgen Gregorio highlighted the significance of the topics prepared by the Data Privacy Office, Human Resource Development Office, and Quality Assurance Office.
“These topics will ensure quality service toward our students. Additionally, our rights on data privacy and cybersecurity will be highlighted in today’s discussion,” he said.
The first session focused on the Preparation of Table of Specifications and Test Construction, facilitated by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Minnie P. Chan.
“This is just a reminder that a good test is always prepared correctly and made well through proper specifications,” Dr. Chan said.
Faculty members from FCU’s Basic Education Units to Higher Education were guided through the essential principles of creating balanced and effective assessments, ensuring that test items align with learning objectives and competencies.
Later in the day, the seminar transitioned into a more serious and comprehensive discussion on legal and digital safety matters. Board of Trustee member Atty. Remia Fuentes-Bartolome led the session on the Data Privacy Act Implementing Rules and Regulations and the Voyeurism Law, emphasizing the importance of responsible data handling and compliance with legal standards.
“You should know your rights. Do not just give everything. We have to be cautious in what we do online, both inside and outside of the university setting,” Atty. Remia emphasized.
She also reminded employees that personal data is a person’s identity, and everyone should protect it.
Following this, ICT Programmer Chris Dominic Chan presented the topic Cybersecurity Do’s and Don’ts and Guide to Onboard Google Workspace, equipping attendees with practical strategies for protecting digital information and effectively using institutional online tools.
The event concluded with the giving of certificates of appreciation to the speakers, recognizing their valuable contributions and time shared with the university community.
