Through his leadership and service, Capiz Council’s first Vice Chairperson Yogie Ben Obsiana was bestowed the Silver Usa Award during the National Court of Honor at Zamboanga City, May 17.

Obsiana started joining the Boys Scouting Movement since he entered the Filamer Christian University (FCU) in 1992.

Throughout his Scouting journey, he served as the Board Member of Boy Scout of the Philippines (BSP) Capiz Council, and the Outfit Adviser of FCU Hillside Senior Scout.

“I became the catalyst of change in the life of youth for them to be train the scouting ways, that the ideas of Scouting became their guiding principle to reach the ranking as FCU Hillside Senior Scout produces 122 Eagle Scouts,” he expressed.

After serving the Scouting movement for three years, Obsiana received several awards from the BSP, including the Bronze Service Award in 1993, the Silver Service Award in 1990, and the Gold Service Award in 2003.

Furthermore, he continued to serve the movement and was awarded the Bronze Medal of Merit in 2007, the Silver Medal of Merit in 2013, the Gold Medal of Merit in 2017, and the Bronze Usa in 2022, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All those awards are given in recognition of the distinguished contributions and merotripous services rendered by scouters,” Obsiana stated.

The Silver Usa Award, presented during the 67th Annual National Council Meeting, symbolizes the efforts made by scouters to the BSP.
