Student pub staff, adviser bring home multiple awards from 25th Word Cup

The Hillside Echo (HSE), the official student publication of Filamer Christian University, Inc., continues to uphold journalistic excellence as its staff and adviser garnered multiple awards at the 25th Word Cup and 8th Journalism Masterclass, held on June 14 at Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.

Representing Filamer Christian University, HSE staff impressed judges across various categories in English and Filipino journalism, showcasing their writing prowess among participants from across the region.

Additionally, Demingoy was featured on the July 16 issue of the renowned national newspaper, Manila Bulletin with his winning opinion article, “Truth and trend: The digital war for the youth’s opinion” (https://mb.com.ph/2025/07/16/truth-and-trend).

The event, which brings together young campus journalists and mentors around the country for a celebration of excellence and skill-building, was an opportunity for HSE to once again demonstrate its strength in both English and Filipino journalism.
