Despite limited preparation, time, and resources, three contestants representing Filamer Christian University, Inc. (FCU) High School (HS) earned first runner-up titles in two categories during the Division Technolympics held at the Roxas City School for Philippine Craftsmen on October 10.

Among FCU’s bests is Grade 10 student Michael Andrei Refugio, who placed first runner-up in Digital Advertising (Poster), while Grade 12 students Nathan Ken Sario and Dazzle Zhen Manguardia earned the same placement in Savor D’ Flavor Cooking with their Pambihirang Sardinas dish.

β€œI’m thankful that Andrei answered the call, even though I only tapped him on Wednesday,” coach Dr. Shirley Tipon said.

She said finding skilled participants was challenging, especially that the given timeframe was short, making her grateful that the said students accepte the challenge to compete.

Youngest among the three, Refugio, said he was surprised by his result as a first-time contestant with little preparation time.

β€œI was surprised when they announced our score because it was my first time and our preparation was short,” Refugio said, adding that he was satisfied with the result despite the strong competition.

Meanwhile, Sario expressed relief and pride in their placement, especially after his previous experience in the event.

β€œI felt relieved because I expected us to place,” Sario said, noting that the larger number of competitors made this year’s result more meaningful.

Coach John Patrick Romero also highlighted FCU’s participation in promoting inclusion, noting that it was the only private school to join the division-wide competition and the only school with a contestant with a disability (PWD).

The Division Technolympics featured Digital Poster, Savor D’ Flavor, Techno Fusion, Table Construction, Cabin Craft, and Bake Cares, with participants from across the Roxas City Division.
