The Hillside Echo is the official student publication of Filamer Christian University, upholding responsible journalism and serving the interest of the Public. Guided by the principles declared in Republic Act 7079 or the Campus Journalism Act of 1991, The Hillside Echo shall uphold and protect freedom of expression for the benefit of the student body and the community, and promote the development and growth of campus journalism as a means of strengthening ethical values, encouraging critical and creative thinking, and developing moral character and personal discipline of the Filipino youth.The Hillside Echo serves as a platform for students to develop critical and committed leadership through responsible journalism. Thus, it shall observe and embody ethical standards of journalism such as truthfulness, accuracy, objectivity, impartiality, fairness, and public accountability. Advocating for development communication and actively engaging in scrutinizing situations and conditions of the student body, community, and the Filipino people in order to advance and protect their interests, and cultivate the culture of progressive change, The Hillside Echo aims to inform, inspire, and empower.

The Hillside Echo conducts a Basic JOURNEYlism Seminar Workshop for its chosen recipient to uphold social responsibility. The first-ever workshop was held at Pontevedra National High School in 2022. In this workshop, editors from the HSE ought to discuss topics such as, but not limited to, news writing, feature writing, sports writing, editorial writing, cartooning, photojournalism, and copyreading and headlining.
Giving back to the community, The Hillside Echo by extending help by providing basic school supplies to remote schools. In 2016, a benefit project called “Mirage Envisioned” was a film-showing activity in which the profit was used for young writers in Mongpong Elementary School.
The Sinephone Fest is held every Cultural Competition of the Founders’ Week celebration and aims to provide a platform for students to highlight socially relevant issues through the use of an audio-visual medium. From the words “sine” which means movie in Filipino and “phone,” this film competition requires only smartphones to be used throughout the filming process.
Filamer Unpacked is a virtual guidebook for incoming Filamerians. The content of the guidebook aims to steer Filamerians inside the campus and instill university values.
