4 Filamerians honored as Capiz’s outstanding students

Students from Filamer Christian University earned prestigious recognitions during the 14th Batang Capiznon Awards – Search for the Ten Outstanding Students of Capiz (TOSOC) 2026, showcasing excellence in leadership, academics, and service among the youth of Capiz.

Among the awardees is Mia Factolerin, a fourth-year Bachelor of Arts in Political Science student, who received the TOSOC Awardee (Tertiary) distinction and was also honored with the Writer Award for her exemplary writing and leadership abilities.

“After years of chasing excellence, I finally understood that being outstanding is not about standing above others, but about standing for others. And perhaps that is why this recognition means far more to me now than it ever would have before,” Factolerin shared as she reflects on her recognition.

Also recognized as TOSOC Awardee (Tertiary) was Joevan Reliente, a fourth-year BA Political Science student, for his outstanding achievements and active involvement in academic and community endeavors.

“In this journey, I have no eagerness to prove something, but I care more for growth. I am filled with gratitude that along the way I have discovered even more of who I truly am.… and I think I made history. I have written the best version of myself that beyond excellence still aims for continuous learning,” Reliente stated.

Another tertiary awardee was Maria Niña Ysabelle Dela Cruz, a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship student, whose dedication and excellence earned her a place among this year’s outstanding students of Capiz.

“This trophy is not mine alone—it belongs to every person, community, and experience that shaped me into who I am today. It is for the people who believed in me during moments when I struggled to believe in myself. It is for the communities that taught me the true meaning of service, compassion, and leadership,” Dela Cruz said.

Representing the secondary level, Niel Anthony Belonio, a Senior High School student, was honored as a TOSOC Awardee (Secondary) for demonstrating exemplary performance and leadership among young Capiznon students.

“This award reflects who I am. But being one of the ten outstanding students of Capiz is not just an award, TOSOC journey molded me to grow. Especially on unlearning and learning things, and improving my character,” Belonio said.

The recognition of these students reflects the university’s commitment to holistic education and its mission of developing competent, service-oriented, and values-driven individuals who contribute meaningfully to society.
