Two faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), namely Dr. Fatima Mynabelle B. Daria and Pastor Rodalyn T. Alianza, were among the 50 applicants selected by the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA) and the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU)’s Institute for the Science and Art of Learning and Teaching (SALT)  to participate in the 2026 Adaptive Design for Learning (ADL) program.

ADL is a professional online certificate course that runs from August 12 to November 18, 2026. It equips educators with principles, strategies and tools for designing online courses. Chosen participants will revisit their course designs and facilitation practices in the context of Generative AI, reconsider the relevance of course goals and assessment practices, and consider new approaches for active and interactive learning.

Dr. Daria on her ADL journey, said, ”I believe that education should bend to the learner, not the learner to the education. As an Adaptive Learning Design Student,  I will build responsive, empathetic systems that decode friction into opportunity—ensuring every student receives the exact challenge they need, at the precise moment they need it, to unlock their full potential. Designing learning ecosystems where content meets capability in real time. Because the best learning paths are paved by the footsteps of the learner, not the constraints of the curriculum.”

“My experience in Adaptive Design for Learning so far has been meaningful and helpful. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn new strategies that I can use in my classroom and share with my colleagues. I believe that what I have learned from ADL will help me become a better teacher and guide my students toward a meaningful learning experience. I thought ADL was about using technology in teaching but I learned it is also knowing my students, understanding their different learning needs, and creating learning experiences that are flexible, inclusive and meaningful,”  added Pastor Rodalyn T. Alianza.

The UBCHEA will cover participation fees of the selected ADL takers from among more than 20 institutions in the network. This is also the first time for Filamer Christian University to send representatives to the program.
