Filamer Christian University, Inc. (FCU) strengthened its commitment to continuous institutional improvement through an institutional benchmarking visit to Central Philippine University (CPU) on September 16, 2026.

Led by Vice President for Finance Mrs. Esther Arceño, CPA, who is also a CPU alumna, the 11-member FCU delegation engaged with various CPU offices to gain insights into institutional practices, systems, and operational processes that may contribute to the enhancement of the University’s services and operations.

The benchmarking initiative covered key areas of university operations, including finance and enterprise management, accounting, property administration, communications and mass media, educational media, information services, research, and research ethics.

Among the CPU offices and units visited were the University Enterprise, Business Office, Accounting Office, Property Custodian’s Office, Office of Communications, CPU TV, Educational Media Center, Information Center, University Research Center, CPU Research Ethics Review Board, and the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Enterprises

The FCU delegation was welcomed at the CPU President’s Office by University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard Dagohoy, together with Dr. Florence Bogacia, Vice President for Finance and Enterprises; Dr. Esther Rose Romarate, Vice President for Student Affairs; Dr. Aries Roda Romallosa, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension; and Engr. Dany Molina, Vice President for Administration.

Joining Mrs. Arceño in the benchmarking delegation were Business Manager Mrs. Friend Ross Belloga; University Enterprise representative Mrs. Fresel Basence; Property Custodian Mrs. Sheralyn De Leon; Accounting Staff Mrs. Newly Hope Fresnido; Internationalization and Global Engagement Office Director Dr. Mary Jane Tormon; Research, Innovation, and Creative Works Office Director

Prof. Leo Art Diosep Borres; Research Ethics Committee Chairperson, Atty. Juna Dieta; Mass Media and Promotions Office Officer Jose Erwin Borbon; and staff members Daryl Furigay and John Carlo Guerta.

Through discussions and exchanges with their CPU counterparts, the FCU delegation examined various institutional practices and processes, particularly those relevant to the operations of their respective offices. The discussions provided the team with perspectives and reference points that may inform the continuing improvement of FCU’s systems, procedures, and delivery of services.

The benchmarking visit also provided an avenue for the two Christian institutions to share experiences, exchange ideas, and learn from each other in areas relevant to university administration and institutional operations.

As part of the activity, the FCU delegation formally expressed its appreciation to CPU for the warm welcome, gracious accommodation, and meaningful exchange of institutional knowledge through the presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation.

For FCU, the benchmarking activity forms part of its continuing pursuit of quality, innovation, and organizational development. The initiative reflects the University’s commitment to learning from other institutions, strengthening existing practices, and exploring opportunities for improvement through collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

FCU conducts post-benchmarking assessment

Following the benchmarking visit, the FCU Benchmarking Team convened on September 17, 2026, to discuss and consolidate its observations, key insights, and significant takeaways from the activity.

The post-benchmarking discussion focused on the practices and processes observed during the visit, with the team identifying areas that may be considered for possible adaptation or enhancement within the University. The activity also provided an opportunity for the team to reflect on how the insights gathered could be translated into improvements relevant to their respective offices and functions.

The benchmarking and post-visit assessment underscore FCU’s continuing efforts to strengthen its institutional systems and promote a culture of continuous improvement across the University.
