Faculty, staff, and student organizations of Filamer Christian University, Inc. (FCU) joined forces in a mangrove planting activity at the Cadimahan River Tour on March 28, reinforcing the institution’s environmental advocacy and community engagement efforts.
Held in line with Earth Hour 2026, the initiative was spearheaded under FCU’s Community Extension and Outreach Program, aligning with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Participants planted mangrove seedlings to help restore coastal ecosystems, mitigate climate change impacts, and strengthen biodiversity in the area.
University officials emphasized that the activity not only addresses pressing environmental concerns but also fosters collaboration among stakeholders, highlighting the role of partnerships in achieving sustainable development.
The effort supports coastal resilience while promoting environmental awareness among volunteers.
Over the years, FCU has planted a total of 67,091 mangrove trees across various sites in the province, underscoring its sustained commitment to ecological preservation and community development.
