Delving into the landscape of global nursing careers, College of Nursing (CN) Dean, Dr. Nelly Guillen, addressed an audience of approximately 600 students and faculty members from 13 different Indonesian schools during International Nursing Experience Day (INED) hosted by FCU’s partner institution, Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana (UKRIDA), Jakarta, Indonesia, July 6.
In her address, Dr. Guillen outlined the key opportunities and competencies required to thrive as a competitive global nurse, emphasizing the vital role of early preparation.
“Having a strong foundation in theory and skills, strengthened communication abilities, exposure to diverse healthcare settings, digital competence, a broad understanding of local and international cultural diversity, nurtured leadership and teamwork skills from the early years, and robust values formation are crucial preparations for a nursing career,” Dr. Guillen stated.
Additionally, Dr. Guillen shared insight into the specific opportunities, experiences, and challenges of practicing nursing within the Philippines.
This visiting lecture aligns with FCU’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its internationalization initiatives. The collaboration directly supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
